Today we decided to propose an interesting guide, through which you can learn how and what to do to play the diamonics, a musical instrument that has entered the lives of many people, especially because it is used during the hour of music at school. Despite its ease of use, few are able to play it correctly; in fact, especially when you’re new to it, it becomes difficult to coordinate the use of breath at the same time with that of the keyboard. Let’s start this guide by saying and emphasizing that learning to play an instrument is a very important and very constructive thing. Each of us, at least once in our lives, has experienced envy by seeing guys who could tinker with ease with a musical instrument (guitar, drums, bass, piano…), regretting not to have done so when we were children. That’s why many families try to cultivate their children’s passion for music by encouraging them to play and practice. An important part is also the school, where they teach the children to play, as we have already said, just this instrument. In this guide we will explain the basic rules and in a few moments you will learn how to play La Diamonica.

Knowing diamonics

Diamonics is one of the most played instruments among middle school kids. The low cost and simplicity of this instrument, makes it really very fascinating. If your child wants to learn how to play something, this is the instrument for him. Diamonics is a mouth instrument, so to use it the first thing to do is connect the tube to the outer part of the instrument. Alternatively, the diamonics can be used by blowing directly with the mouth on the instrument, but it becomes more difficult to learn quickly and moreover it is also more uncomfortable to use it in this way. Time and experience will make its use easier.

Blow properly

Once you have connected the tube, start blowing inside it: pressing the keys will produce a sound. Moderate the breath: it doesn’t have to be strong, but it must have the right power; if you blow slowly, in fact, the sound will come out lighter. In all cases, it is better to blow loudly, so as to moderate the sound constantly, rather than start too powerfully. Another important thing is not to make too much effort in blowing, otherwise you will get exhausted at the end of the song and will also affect the quality of the performance.

Learning notes on the keyboard

Now you have to learn the notes on the keyboard. The first note (of course the C) is in the group of three white keys that enclose the two black keys. The black keys, on the other hand, identify the notes in sharp and flat. Obviously, to learn how to play the diamonic keyboard, you will have to learn all the notes by heart. Even if this tool makes it easier for you to know them, in fact the names of the various notes are already written on the keys.

Playing with the aid of a score

Now all you have to do is get a score and play. We recommend that you start with a simple song you know, such as “Fra Martino” or “Oh when the Saints”, which lends itself very well to being played with diamonics. With the exercise it is possible to become better and better and above all to be able to play more difficult songs.

Teaching children to play with the score with colorful notes

As we have already told you, diamonics is an ideal tool for teaching children about piano theory. For this reason, many people decide to give this instrument to their children before starting to study the piano. To make them learn the scale of the notes, we use scores with colored notes. Each note is assigned a color, then this is reported in the stave, so the child can learn music theory in an easy and fun way. As time goes by after you have learned the basics, before you begin your piano lessons, we recommend that you enrol your child in some solfeggio lessons.
